A heckler is the person in the crowd who — who interrupts a speaker or performer in public to them or knock them off their script. You find hecklers at stand-up comedy, election meetings, and noisy public talks. Some comedians answer a heckler as part of the show; a politician may ignore them or have them taken out. The word names the person, not the shout itself (the shout can be called a ). It is a little informal, but newspapers use it without . One heckler can change the feeling of a whole room, which is why hosts watch for them.
