If something is heat-resistant, heat does not easily break it, melt it, or change its shape. Kitchen pans, oven gloves, building materials, and clothes for fire work are often heat-resistant. It does not mean the thing feels no heat at all, and it does not mean fire can never touch it. It means it can take a lot of heat before it is damaged. Though actually, is a cousin word and often sounds a little stronger, as if almost nothing will happen to it; heat-resistant is the careful, everyday label you see on a box or a handle.
