1. 1

Haworth is a small village in West Yorkshire, in the north of England. Many visitors go there because the Brontë family lived in the house beside the church. Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë wrote famous books; Emily’s Wuthering Heights is set in the wild, open hills around the village. Though actually, Haworth today is a busy tourist place, with shops and a steam train. It is not as quiet as the book, even if the hills still feel empty and windy. The name is said HOW-uth, not “hay-worth.”
