Happy-clappy is a British way of talking about a kind of Christian church: the kind where people sing loudly, clap, shout, show their feelings, and try to bring other people in. The word is not kind. People use it when they find that style too noisy, too emotional, or too pushy, so it carries a little mockery. You would not use it about your own church if you loved that worship; you would use it about someone else's. It is informal, a bit newspaper-like, and mostly British. Though actually, the singing and clapping are not the whole point. The disapproval is aimed at the showy, recruiting, feel-good style as a package. Younger British speakers still know it; it is less common in American English, where people might say evangelical or charismatic without the joke.
