Hang-gliding is the sport of flying with a hang-glider: a light wing on a frame, with you hanging in a harness underneath. There is no engine. You take off from a hill or a cliff, or behind a winch, and you glide on the air. It looks calm from the ground, but you need lessons, the right wind, and a lot of trust in the harness. People who like the sky sometimes mix this up with other unpowered flying; hang-gliding is the one with the rigid wing you hang from, not a soft canopy over your head. The word is the name of the sport; the machine is a hang-glider.
