    Handwritten means a person wrote it with a pen or pencil, not a printer or a keyboard. A handwritten letter, a handwritten note, handwritten labels on jars. It often feels more personal, and sometimes more serious in a small way — a handwritten signature on a form. The opposite is typed or printed. It is a quiet, everyday adjective; nobody finds it fancy. It comes from hand plus written. The matching noun is handwriting: that is the look of the letters, not the fact that a person made them.
