A hands-off way of running something means you do not keep telling people what to do. You let them choose, and you step back. We say it a lot about bosses, teachers, and parents: a hands-off manager does not watch every little job. That can sound kind (you trust people) or a bit cold (you do not help when they get stuck). It is almost always an adjective before a noun — a hands-off approach, a hands-off style — though you can also say someone takes a hands-off attitude. It is the opposite of hands-on. It is not about your real hands. It is a picture: you take your hands off the work and stop steering it. People use it in everyday talk and in offices; it is not slang, and it is not stiff either.
hands-off 是指不一直告訴別人該怎麼做，讓別人自己選擇、自己退後一步的管理方式。它常用來形容主管、老師和家長，像「a hands-off ＿＿」，例如 manager 或 approach；也可以說「take a hands-off attitude」。它聽起來可以是信任別人，也可以有點冷淡，因為別人卡住時你沒有出手幫忙。它跟 hands-on 相反，不是指真正的手，而是把手從工作上拿開、不再掌舵的畫面。
