    Glencoe is a real valley in the western Highlands of Scotland. In 1692, soldiers linked with one clan, the Campbells, killed members of another clan, the MacDonalds, who had been giving them shelter. People still call this the Massacre of Glencoe, and in Britain the name carries a story about betrayal, not only a pretty view. Today it is a famous place to walk, climb, and ski. You will hear the name in history lessons, on weather reports, and in travel talk.
