A giving person is kind, caring, and generous. They think of other people and are happy to share time, help, or things, without keeping a mean little score. “She is so giving” praises someone’s character, not one single present. It is a warm word, a little softer than generous, which can sound like money. Though actually the same spelling is also just the -ing form of the verb give (“She is giving a talk”; “Giving is better than receiving”). That is grammar. This sense is the describing word: what kind of person they are.
