Gibraltarian is not the name of the town. The town and port is : a small British place on a famous rock at the southern tip of Spain, looking across a narrow sea toward Africa. Britain has held it since 1713; Spain still says it should belong to Spain, and the argument has gone on for centuries. Tourists come for the Rock, the wild monkeys, the shops, and the odd mix of British and Spanish life — English signs, British money, Spanish spoken in the street. A Gibraltarian is a person from there, or something that belongs to that place (a Gibraltarian accent, Gibraltarian food). People who live there often feel British, though the culture is mixed. It is a fairly formal word; in easy talk you may just say “someone from .”
