Geocaching is the hobby of using GPS (now, usually a phone) to find hidden boxes. You download a point, walk there, search the bushes, sign the book, and sometimes trade a small object you brought for one in the box. People also use it as a verb: they go geocaching at the weekend. It is a word, cheerful and practical, first used in 2000; an older name for the same idea was GPS stash. The “book” in the box is a log, not a storybook, and many caches are tiny — a film canister, not a chest.
