A genome is all the genes in one kind of living thing — the full set of tiny instructions inside the cells that help make that plant, animal, person, or even a virus. One gene is a single instruction; the genome is the whole book. Scientists talk about the human genome, a rice genome, a bacterial genome. It is a lab and textbook word, not daily chat. Though actually, almost every cell in one body carries a copy of that body’s genome, with a few special exceptions, and two people still do not have exactly the same book — little differences are why we are not copies of each other. Mapping “the” human genome meant reading a shared picture of our kind, not one identical script for every person.

From German Genom, coined in 1920 by botanist Hans Winkler as a blend of Gen 'gene' + Chromosom 'chromosome'.

組成From earlier genom, from German Genom, coined in 1920 by the botanist Hans Winkler as a blend of Gen (“gene”) + Chromosom (“chromosome”). English later settled on genome so it would look like gene + -ome, or gene plus the end of chromosome.
