Galvanise is how British English often spells . It is the same word, not a different one. Americans write -ize; many British books and papers write -ise. The word can wake people up so they act — a report galvanises the government — and it can also mean putting a zinc coat on metal. The ending is only a spelling choice. If you learn one form, you already know the other. Though actually, even in Britain you will still see , so both tails are “right” depending on the house style.
