Galilee is a region in northern Israel. Nazareth is the town most English readers know; the Sea of Galilee — really a large lake — lies to the east. In the New Testament it is the country where Jesus lived and taught before he went south to Jerusalem, so the name carries a strong Christian story even for people who have never been there. In geography it is simply that northern area. A much rarer sense, mostly in old church architecture, calls a porch at the west end of some churches a galilee, probably because Galilee sat as an outlying region of the biblical land. For learners, the place in Israel is the meaning that matters.
