Gabon is a country on the west side of Africa, by the Atlantic Ocean. It sits near the equator, so it is hot and very green, with a lot of thick forest. The capital is Libreville. It is a small country if you count people — a little over a million and a half when they counted in 2014 — though the land itself is not tiny. French is the main language of government there, from the years when France ruled the land. Though actually, many people at home speak other local languages too.
