    In this sense a futurist is someone who belongs to — the early-twentieth-century style of art, music, and literature that put modern machines, speed, and technology at the centre — or the work is called Futurist when it follows that style. You meet Futurist painters, Futurist poems, a Futurist manifesto. The capital F is common when people mean this group, especially the Italian one. The word can be a noun (she was a Futurist) or an adjective (Futurist art). Though actually, in today’s English a futurist is also, and now more often, a person whose job is to think about what may happen next in technology or society. That is a different job from the old art movement; this entry is the art one.
