    This is a very rude word for someone you think is stupid, or who has you. Do not use this word. You will hear it more in Britain, Ireland, and Australia than in the United States. The second half is wit, an old word for brains or a quick mind, so the whole thing is “a person with messed-up sense.” Though actually, people who say it are not thinking about the pieces; they are just swearing. It belongs to angry, informal talk. Same warning as the others: it can get you into trouble, and it makes you sound much harsher than idiot.
