A fry-up is a meal, usually breakfast, made of food cooked in a pan with oil or fat. In Britain that often means a big plate of fried eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, and maybe fried bread or potatoes. A large one is a full fry-up or a full English. The word is informal, homely British English — the kind of thing you say in a café or at home, not on a fancy menu. Americans almost never say fry-up; they would say fried breakfast or just name the food. People also stretch it: any mix of leftovers fried together in one pan can be a fry-up, not only a proper breakfast. It sounds filling and a bit greasy on purpose.
