In a fast, wild, out-of-control way. If you do something frenziedly, you are moving or working very quickly, and the speed comes from strong feeling inside you — panic, fear, excitement, or desperate want — not from calm planning. A person searches frenziedly through a bag for a lost key, or waves frenziedly at a friend on a leaving train, or a dog digs frenziedly at a hole. The picture is always the same: too much energy, no control, movements repeated again and again. It is a written word much more than a spoken one — you meet it in novels and news reports, not usually in daily talk, where people just say 'like crazy' or 'like mad'. Note that it does not simply mean 'very fast'. A good typist types fast, but not frenziedly; you would only say that if she looked panicked. Writers also stretch it a little to markets and crowds — shares can be traded frenziedly — where the meaning becomes 'everyone rushing at once, nobody thinking clearly'.
