    If someone or something is freewheeling, they are not tightly following rules, and they are not worrying much about what will happen later. The picture comes from a bicycle rolling downhill with no pedaling: you are moving, but you are not working every detail. English uses it about people, trips, talks, and companies. It can sound — relaxed, open, creative — or a little warning — careless, not serious — depending on who is speaking. It is informal. Though actually, you do not need to be on a bike at all; the word has mostly left the machine and now describes an attitude.
