A franchisor is the company that owns the brand and sells other people the right to use it. It sets the rules, trains the shop owners, and usually takes a fee or a share of sales. You see it next to franchisee: the franchisor sells, the franchisee buys. It is business and legal English, more common in contracts than in casual chat. British writing sometimes uses franchiser with an e for the same job; American legal writing prefers franchisor with an o. In everyday news, people often just say “the company” or “the brand” and skip this word.
