Foolery is silly or stupid behaviour — tricks, jokes that go too far, acting like a fool. It can mean one silly act, or a whole habit of not being serious. The word is a little old and . In everyday English people are more likely to say foolishness, nonsense, or stupidity. You may still hear foolery in stories, in a slightly joking voice, or when someone wants to sound like a : ‘enough of this foolery.’ It is not as sharp as insult. It often treats the behaviour as childish or comic, not evil. Tomfoolery is a cousin you will meet more often, with the same playful flavour.
