    If you are flummoxed, you are completely confused — your mind has come to a stop. This is the form students meet most: “I’m flummoxed.” It is the past of the verb , used as a feeling-word. Informal, a little old-fashioned and British in flavour, but still alive. Though actually it is not a strong word for panic, anger, or being upset. You can be calm and still flummoxed: you simply cannot work out what is going on.
