    Fixity is the state of not changing — staying still, staying the same, staying sure. It is a formal, slightly noun. Writers talk about the fixity of a stare (eyes that do not move) or the fixity of someone’s purpose (they will not give up). Though actually, everyday English prefers simpler words: stillness, firmness, “it does not change.” You will meet fixity more in serious writing than in a chat with friends.
