    Finalization is the last stage of finishing a plan, a business deal, a contract, a list — the wrapping-up of details so the thing is actually done, not only agreed in spirit. Talks can end on Monday and finalization can still take weeks, because someone must check the wording, the dates, the signatures. It is a business and official word; at home you would more often say finishing or wrapping up. British spelling often uses s: finalisation. The related verb is finalize: you finalize the deal, and the finalization is that finishing. People stretch it to almost any last paperwork, even when the hard work was already over.
