    Fiji is a country in the southwest Pacific Ocean. It is not one block of land. It is two main islands and hundreds of smaller ones. People live on some of them; many tiny ones have nobody. 組成The name does not split in English. English took it from Tongan Fisi. Tongan had taken it from the Fijian people’s own name for the islands, Viti, which probably first meant “east” or “sunrise.” Captain Cook wrote down the Tongan sound as Fiji, and that spelling stuck.
