Fibrosis is a medical word for when soft body tissue becomes thick, hard, or scarred, often because of injury, disease, or long-term . You'll usually meet this word inside a longer medical name, like 'cystic fibrosis' (a serious genetic disease) or 'pulmonary fibrosis' (scarring of the lungs that makes it hard to breathe).
