One way to hold it: a scroll being , slowly, so that what was already wound up inside comes out into view. Latin ē- 'out' + volvō 'roll'. Nothing jumps; the shape emerges turn by turn over time.
Borrowed from Latin ēvolvō "to unroll, unfold", from ē- (out) + volvō (roll) — literally the unrolling of a scroll. The modern sense of gradual, step-by-step emergence over time is that unrolling seen in slow motion.
順帶一提,volvō 這個「滾」也留在 revolve(轉回來)、involve(捲進去)、volume(原指一卷書)裡,記住這個「捲」,一整組字都好認。
