Eurotunnel is the British-and-French company that built the Channel Tunnel and still looks after the tunnel under the sea between England and France. It keeps the structure in good repair and runs the trains that carry cars and lorries through. Though actually, the famous passenger trains called Eurostar are not the same company; they only use the tunnel. Students often say Eurotunnel as if it were the tunnel’s name. The hole in the ground is the Channel Tunnel (some older British people still say the Chunnel). Eurotunnel is the firm. The company later took a new official name, Getlink, but many people still say Eurotunnel.
