A eulogist is the person who praises someone at length — most often the person who stands up at a funeral and speaks well of the one who has died. The speech itself is a ; the eulogist is the speaker. You can also call someone a eulogist if they write a piece that heaps praise on a person, a book, or a piece of work, not only when someone has died, though the funeral use is the one students meet first. It is a formal, slightly noun. In everyday English people more often say “the person who gave the ” than “the eulogist”.
