    An Episcopalian is a person who belongs to an Episcopal church — most often the Episcopal Church in the United States. It is a membership word, like Catholic or Presbyterian: it names the church family you belong to, not “anyone who likes bishops”. You can also use it as an adjective: Episcopalian beliefs, an Episcopalian priest. It is built in a simple way: episcopal + -ian (a person of that kind). Though actually, in England people usually say , not Episcopalian; Episcopalian is the usual American label, and you will also hear it for some related churches, such as in Scotland. In Taiwan the related church is called 聖公會. The word is fairly formal. Friends in the US might just say “I’m Episcopal”, using the adjective as a short identity.
