An enforcer is a person whose work is to make sure others do what they are supposed to do. The word often sounds hard, not kind. In crime stories, an enforcer is the one sent to scare or hurt people who do not pay or do not obey. In ice hockey, the enforcer is the tough player who fights so teammates are left alone. At work, people sometimes call a strict manager “the enforcer” as a joke — the person who makes the rule actually happen. It is not a warm job title; it points at force, not at teaching or asking nicely.
