Enfeebled means very weak or ill — so weak that a person, a body, or, in careful writing, a country or an economy has little strength left. This is the form you will actually see most: an enfeebled patient, an enfeebled old man, an enfeebled industry. It is formal and a little old-fashioned. Said about health it can be kind and exact; said to someone’s face as a label, it can hurt, so writers use it of the condition, not as a taunt. It is deeper than tired: tired goes away with sleep; enfeebled has gone into the bones.
