A small cup that holds a boiled egg so it stands up while you eat it. You tap the shell, lift off the top, and eat the egg with a little spoon, still sitting in the cup. People use it most with a soft-boiled egg at breakfast — the kind that is still a little wet inside. In Britain this is a very ordinary table thing; in Taiwan many homes never use one, because eggs are more often eaten from a bowl, in rice, or as 糖心蛋. It is not a cup for tea or water. You do not drink from it.
