When someone is effusive, they do not keep their good feelings quiet. They pour them out — big thanks, big praise, a welcome that goes on a bit. An effusive thank-you, an effusive review, an effusive host: the warmth is easy to see and hear. The word is a little formal; friends more often say “she was so enthusiastic” or “he really went on about how good it was.” It is not a rude word, but it can carry a small smile: the speaker notices that the feeling is being shown in a very big way, sometimes more than the moment needs. Use it for warm, happy feeling, not for anger. There is an old science use (lava or gas pouring out of the ground), but almost never meet that.
組成Borrowed from Medieval Latin effūsīvus in the 1660s. The picture behind it is Latin “pour out”: feelings running over, not held in.
