An earplug is a small soft piece — often foam, silicone, or rubber — that you push into the opening of your ear. It is there to keep things out: loud noise on a plane, at a concert, or at night, or water when you swim. It does not play music. You usually use two, one for each ear. Push them in gently, and take them out with clean hands; do not force them deep inside.
