E-FIT is a British police word. It is a picture of a person’s face, built on a computer from a witness’s memory, of someone the police think was responsible for a crime. They show that picture on television or on the internet and ask the public to help catch the person. Older systems used paper features you could swap (photofit, Identikit); E-FIT is the computer version of that job. You will meet it in UK news and crime programmes, not in everyday Taiwan talk. It is not a photograph of the real face — it is a made picture, and it may be only roughly right. And though it looks like a gym word (“e-fit”), it has nothing to do with exercise.
