Duracell is a well-known make of battery — the kind you put in a radio, a torch, a clock, or a child's toy. The company made the name from “durable cell,” meaning a battery they claim lasts longer than an ordinary one, and that claim has been the heart of the advertising for years. In shops you know the look: a black body with a copper-coloured top. Though actually, in Britain people also use Duracell as a nickname for someone with bright ginger hair, because that copper top looks a bit like a ginger head. It is informal, and not always kind; some red-haired people do not like it. In Taiwan the brand is what people will recognise first. The hair joke is a British extra, not something you need in a shop.
