Dundee is a city on the east coast of Scotland, where the River Tay into the sea. It is not the capital, and it is not as famous abroad as Edinburgh or Glasgow, but it is a real working city with a university, a cathedral, and two football clubs that split the town's love: Dundee and Dundee United. Ships, jam, and once made its money; people still joke about ', jam and journalism'. You may also meet Dundee cake, a rich fruit cake with almonds on top, named after the city. For a , the word in a dictionary is the place: a port city on the Tay, with learning, a church, and football. Say it with the stress on the second part: dun-DEE.
