Dual-band is a tech word for a phone, radio, or Wi-Fi box that can use two different kinds of signal, not just one. Think of each “band” as a radio road: the machine can drive on two roads. That is why older phone ads said a dual-band phone could work in more than one country — different places used different signal types, so you needed both. Though actually, almost every phone now uses many more than two bands; people still say dual-band a lot about home Wi-Fi, where one band is the slower, longer-reaching one and the other is faster but does not go as far. Shop language, not fancy language. You see it on boxes.
dual-band 是科技用語，指能同時用兩種不同訊號的手機、收音機或 Wi-Fi 盒子。可以把每一個頻段想成一條無線電的道路，機器能走兩條路。以前的手機廣告常說雙頻手機可以在不同國家使用，因為各地用的訊號種類不同，所以需要兩種頻段。現在幾乎所有手機都用超過兩個頻段，不過人們仍常用這個字來說家裡的 Wi-Fi：一個頻段比較慢、傳得比較遠，另一個比較快，但傳得沒那麼遠。它是賣場用語，不是花俏的說法，常印在包裝盒上。
