DSL is a telephone line with extra equipment so it can carry the internet — sending and receiving information much faster than the old kind of phone call that sang and clicked before you could go online. For years this was how many homes got broadband: the same copper phone wire, but you could use the web and the phone at the same time. The common home kind was (faster coming into the house than going out). Though actually, in many places fibre lines have now taken over, so younger people may never have had DSL; their parents may remember the phone-company box and the “” bill. The word is a bit technical and a bit dated, but you still meet it on old contracts and “DSL ” labels.
組成Short for Digital Subscriber Line. Digital means the information is in computer form; a subscriber is a customer on the phone network; the line is the wire into the house.
