    A dolt is a person you are calling silly or slow — a fool. It is an word, and it sounds rather old, like something from a book or a sharp joke, not like playground English today. Younger people are more likely to say fool, idiot, or dummy. There is no kindness in it, so use it with care, if at all. It names the person, not a passing mistake.
