A docusoap is a television series that follows real people in their ordinary work or home life, week after week, and cuts the footage so it feels like a soap opera: regular characters, small fights, running jokes, a next episode. The people are not actors, and the places are real — an airport, a hospital, a driving school — but cameras and editing still shape what you see. The word is mainly British television talk. In the US, people are more likely to say reality show, though a docusoap is usually gentler than a competition show with prizes and votes. Though actually, once people know they are being filmed, they are never quite as 'ordinary' as the title pretends, and the editor still chooses a story. You will not hear this much in Taiwan English class; it is a media nickname.
