Picture a crown that nobody in the room put on the king's head. It came down from above. Because it came from above, nobody in the room is entitled to ask about it, and a question about the crown is a question about God. The whole phrase is that posture: power that is claimed to come from higher up, and therefore claimed to be beyond argument.
