To dissemble is to hide what you really feel or think, and show a different face. You smile while you are angry. You say “it’s fine” when it is not. The word is old and rather . You will meet it in novels, history, and careful writing more than in chat. Everyday English is more likely to say hide your feelings, pretend, or cover up. It is about the inside and the outside not matching. It is not acting on a stage, and it is not taking a machine apart.
掩飾(真心)、隱瞞真實想法。
組成Into English in the 1400s, from Middle English, from Old French, from Latin dissimulō (to hide or pretend), then reshaped to look more like French sembler / semblance (“to seem,” “outward look”). Twin of dissimulate.
