Someone or something disrespectful shows a lack of respect: talking over an elder, laughing at a serious moment, treating a rule or a belief as if it were nothing. It is about honour and consideration, not only volume. You can be quiet and still disrespectful, and you can be loud without meaning disrespect. The word is common at home, in school, and in public talk about manners toward people, cultures, or the dead. Rude overlaps, though actually rude is wider (including manners); disrespectful points at the missing respect.
