Again a noun, not a verb: the stopping of something that used to continue. A drug’s discontinuation means doctors stop giving it; a product’s discontinuation means the company will not make it any more. This is the word you will see on medicine notes and in business news. More common in ordinary formal English than . The verb hiding behind it is discontinue. People do stretch it a little — “after the discontinuation of the talks” — but the home ground is products, services, and treatment.
