Something disadvantageous is unfavourable: it works against you and is likely to cause problems. A deal, a rule, a time, or a place can all be disadvantageous. It is a long, formal cousin of “bad for you” or “not in your favour.” People write it more than they say it. Though actually, many students meet disadvantaged first — that one is about people who have less money or fewer chances. This word is not that. This one describes a situation or a choice that puts you in a weaker spot.
