  1. 1飲食的、膳食的（形容詞，多放名詞前：dietary habits 飲食習慣。不是「減肥專用」。）

    Dietary means “about the food and drink a person takes,” not the food itself. We put it in front of another noun: dietary habits (how you usually eat), dietary needs (what your body asks of food), dietary fibre (the fibre that comes from food), dietary supplements (pills or powders people take when meals are not enough). Doctors, nurses, and food labels love this word; it sounds a little official. Though actually, at the family table most people just say eating or food — food habits, eating rules — and save dietary for clinics, school health class, and packets. It is not only about getting thinner. A child’s dietary needs and an old person’s dietary needs can be about strength, illness, or religion, not about a plan. You almost never use dietary alone as the thing on the plate.
