    Diabesity is a fairly new word that doctors and health writers made by pushing diabetes and obesity together. It names the situation where someone is very fat and also has the kind of diabetes that often comes with that — usually type 2, where the body cannot handle sugar in the blood well. It is not a third, secret disease with its own test. It is a way of pointing at the two problems sitting together, and at how being very overweight can lead to diabetes. You will meet it in health news, not much at the dinner table. Ordinary people still say diabetes and obesity as two words.
